we want our telangana quota 42% in group 1

The Osmania University Joint Action Committee and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, on Wednesday, demanded that the state government direct the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission to postpone the Group I examinations scheduled to be held on September 5, till the government decides on the issue of 40% quota in recruitments for Telangana candidates.

Talking to media persons, the JAC members stated that without clarifying its stand on the quota issue, the APPSC could not go ahead with conducting the Group-1 examination.

The JAC leaders said that since the APPSC has refused to postpone the scheduled date of September 5, a meeting was called at the Osmania University to chalk out the future course of action on the quota demand.

The APPSC should implement reservation for all communities from the stage of the preliminary examination itself, on the lines of UPSC, they asserted.

The JAC members declared that they would hold a candlelight vigil at all Telangana educational institutions on September 3.

They threatened that the government would be held responsible for any dire consequences that take place in the state in this regard. The members also demanded the removal of APPSC chairman Venkataram Reddy as many corruption charges were pending against him. Widespread protests were witnessed across Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday as students boycotted classes in various colleges and universities and took to the streets demanding that the State government postpone the State Public Service Commission preliminary examination scheduled for tomorrow.
Students under the banner of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) met State Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and appealed to her to prevail upon the government to postpone the Group-I exams, demanding their share of 42 per cent reservation.
Tension prevailed at the Osmania University campus here as a group of students climbed the Arts College building and threatened to jump if the government did not immediately concede to their demand.
OU Vice-Chancellor T Tirupati Rao reached the spot to pacify the agitated students and make them call off their protest.
